The Complete Guide to Concrete Coating Installation
At Resilient Concrete Coatings, we want you to be confident and familiar with our process before you commit to our services. Whether you’re a commercial business owner or a homeowner looking to coat your concrete, part of that confidence comes from understanding our products and processes, so you know exactly what to expect and how to prepare for our team’s arrival.

Epoxy vs. Polyaspartic
First, it’s important to understand the differences between epoxy and polyaspartic materials:
- Epoxy: Epoxy is a resin that can be used to create an adhesive layer in a full flooring solution.
- Polyaspartic: Polyaspartic is a type of fast-curing concrete coating solution that creates less downtime for businesses or garages that use it for their flooring.
How Our Concrete Coatings Work
At Resilient Concrete Coatings, our solutions are floor coating systems that use both materials, along with flakes or chips, to provide long-lasting durability for high-performance floors while ensuring the flooring solutions look good for your home or business. The combination of materials creates durable, long-lasting floors that look great and protect the concrete beneath.
Our Concrete Coating Installation Process
Our simple process is all it takes to install your new floor coating system:
- Remove Old Flooring (If Necessary): Sometimes, our customers have experienced poor installations from another company, so we remove the old flooring to ensure an excellent finish.
- Surface Prep Concrete Floors: We use a walk-behind grinder to create a suitable surface for your flooring system to bind to, and remove any dust and debris with a vacuum for optimal conditions.
- Apply Epoxy and Chip or Flake: Once the surface is ready, we apply the epoxy, then full broadcast flake or chip.
- Clear Extra Flake: Throughout the process, we’ll remove excess flakes or chips to ensure a smoother final floor coating system.
- Apply a Top Layer of Polyaspartic: We apply a final top coat of polyaspartic for durability, then grind any flake that continues to stick through.
- Clean and Final Check: Finally, we vacuum and blow the surface to ensure no particulate gets into your flooring system and allow it to cure into its final, durable form.
How To Prepare For Our Arrival
Before we arrive, you should clear the project site. For home garages, this includes removing vehicles, personal items, and anything not attached to the walls or floors. For commercial spaces, this could include movable machinery, vehicles, and other objects that can be transported elsewhere.
What To Do After We Wrap Up Your Project
Once we finish applying your new concrete coating system, our team will give you specific instructions as it cures. In general, however, it will take 24 to 72 hours to fully cure before you can use it regularly, especially on heavy vehicles or machinery.
